Old Moto E6 Plus?

Question

I should take it what Google AI just told me was correct?

After several days using this backup phone while my Poco is awaiting repair, I haven't been able to receive or make calls? I've only just tried a call tonight on this for the first time. The Moto has 4g but is missing Volte, even though it has a wifi calling option. =2019 model, basic specs)

If so I would have preferred Smarty to recognise the limitations of this phone automatically because I could have missed a life saving call.

New to the forum so I just tried starting THIS NEW thread . TIA

Ton_287​ I disabled VoLTE while keeping WiFi Calling on my Samsung S24, and at first it won't let me dial anything, but after a couple of seconds WiFi Calling kicks in and lets me make a call. I guess every phone is different in how they implement things, or maybe that WiFi Calling option means something else entirely.For now, you will need to find another phone to use, perhaps another one lying around in your house, or ask your friends and family if they can temporarily lend you a spare phone with VoLTE.

Ton_287​ I did a bit more experimenting, it seems WiFi Calling goes on and off, and follows the standard 'network preferred' behaviour, only turning on when network signal is weak so routes through WiFi. More details about that behaviour here: Has Wifi Calling broken again (Oct 2026)​I can force WiFi calling by turning on Airplane mode or setting the network mode to 2G/3G. Maybe try doing that and see if it works for you. If it doesn't, then follow the advice in my previous post.

Thanks. I missed your first post completely. New here! I will try those as I go along. Things are tough for me right now, but I can probably get my Poco fixed from Thursday. I ll probably remain without calls until then but I'll let you know here if something works. Google AI Mode said Three (Smarty) will only work wihh Volte. I had my spare Lebara Sim number in this Moto and that worked fine. 👍&nbsp;

Thank you. I meant the Lebara number I imported to that Sim worked fine, but I don't need that number anymore and for the next few days I can't even reload that. Not having my Smarty number (I've had for 28 years) is a complete pain and I may have missed contacts calls. I'm homeless at 67.I guess I read about Smarty and Three needing Volte or whatever, but it didn't apply to me at the time. I was formerly a Three customer for years. It's a bummer that if I put a smarty Sim in this Moto it doesn't warn you that you will not get calls.&nbsp;I hope I can get my Poco in for a new port on Thursday and hopefully connect Friday.&nbsp;

Ton_287​ Good to know you had a way to make calls. Lebara uses Vodafone's network, which still has its 2G network and can make calls through 2G. EE and O2 also have their 2G networks, but they will all be shut down eventually, and you shouldn't rely on phones without VoLTE while using those networks. Three never had one, starting out as the first 3G network in the UK, though they had roaming agreements with O2 and Orange (now EE) for 2G fallback that they no longer have; all about that in Wikipedia: Three UK / Network | Wikipedia.Despite the VodafoneThree merger, Three doesn't have access to Vodafone's 2G network because their Core networks remain separate, sharing only certain cell towers with&nbsp;MOCN enabled. It's also why we don't have 5G Standalone (marketed as 5G Ultra or 5G+) yet.
