Gillian_3145896 I would be wary with this one. Normally, text messages from HMRC are received free of charge.
If the scammers have managed to spoof text, it will appear to come from HMRC's number.
They do text if you have asked for a code to enter your account.
As per advice from GordonK_4213188 , give HMRC a call if in doubt - but be prepared to hang on for minutes, hours, days........
