Ported Number

I recently moved to Smarty. I enabled an esim on my phone and ported a number from my previous network. The porting process was completed and the ported number is shown in the Smarty app. My issue is that when I send a text the recipient is shown as it coming from the original Smarty number.

Phone calls appear to come from the ported number so the issue only appears to affect text messages. Has anyone else been affected by this and is there a way to rectify it?

PaulMc67 This is a well-documented issue and is due to the phone 'remembering' the original allocated number.

For an iPhone, you can turn off iMessage and FaceTime and then restart them.

A Network Reset may also work, but will apparently lose some of your wifi settings etc.

Thanks for your help. I done a bit of further digging. I think I've found the reason the Smarty number appears but I can't resolve it as yet. I'm using Android and Google Messaging. In the messaging setting I can enable/disable RCS chats. If I disable this function and send a text my ported number is seen by the recipient. If I enable this setting and send a text the recipient receives the temporary Smarty number. It would appear that Google Messaging's RCS is remembering the temporary Smarty SIM number. It's proving very difficult to rectify. It may work if I delete my esim and reinstall it.
