No Mobile Data on 3G

Having had some suggestions re not getting any data roaming I tried a simple experiment. I drove along a 19km main road which, according to coverage map, had great 4 and 5G signal. My wife held my phone, which refused to to acknowledge anything but a3G signal with no internet.  I have and iPhone 11 (3/4G only)   Any ideas other than buy a 5G phone? 😢

    We're sorry unfortunately to connect to 5G network your device must be 5G compatible. 

    As you have an iPhone 11 your device should be 4G VoLTE compatible but you can try these steps to make sure:

    1. Go to ‘Settings’ on your iPhone

    2. Tap on ‘Mobile Data’

    3. Tap on ‘Mobile Data Options’

    4. Tap on ‘Voice & Data’

    5. If your device is compatible with 4G VoLTE or 5G, you will see either ‘4G’ or ’5G’ already selected.
