How to change to from current voice/data SIM to Data only SIM, also keep number, also Group Owner

I currently have a voice & data SIM and am on an unlimited data package. I would like to change my current SIM to an unlimited data only SIM as I never make calls [and the unlimited data only SIM will help to reduce throttling (?)]. Questions:

  1. What is the best way to change/transfer the SIM cards? (I looked at the replacement SIM route but looks like they will only send me the same type of SIM as my current one).
  2. Aware that the new data only SIM will also need a number, can I transfer the old number over?
  3. I am also the Group Owner of a group of 3 other members. How can this transfer be done without affecting their group discounts?

Thanks in advance!

Kay8 I'm interested in the idea that your sim would be better as data-only. Smarty state publicly that they do not throttle -

    https://help.smarty.co.uk/en/articles/1155178-our-policy-on-data-shaping-and-network-throttling

Assuming that you could chat with Smarty Support as suggested by MichaelP , I do not see why your Group situation should change at all. If they do change it to data-only, why would it need a number? (I don't think it would change though)

    Hello there Kay8,

Thanks for reaching out to us here.

If you have auto-renew on and don't see the option for data-only SIMs when you click the 'change plan' option in your dashboard, it may be that the Smarty accounts team need to look at actioning this change on the back end: https://smarty.co.uk/contact. They will also clarify any SIM swaps/updates that are required for this.

If your account remains active with an updated plan, the group members should remain unaffected, and the group discounts stay in place.

    Thanks,
    Michael
