4g broadband router

My daughter is at Loughborough Uni and in accommodation with no internet access.

Will a 4 or 5g router do  the trick for her? According to the coverage she should have excellent 4g but only 5g outside.  Also, can she use a single unlimited data / calls / txts sim in her phone and the router or do i need to continue her current sim plan?

Will appreciate any advice.

Thanks

DavidJ_1963806  Unfortunately, you cannot rely on mobile data as a replacement for broadband. Apart from signals not always being constant, the property itself may prevent a good signal.

If you decide to go down that route, she could move the sim between the router and the phone, but it may eventually damage the sim physically.

Another option could be to use the phone as a hotspot instead of bothering with the router; this again depends upon the quality of signal.

Been using 4g SIM for home internet for years now. Started with smarty unlimited, then 6 months later got a better deal from three direct.

The performance has been robust and flawless.

Jamie You highlight the point that, when it works well, it's great. Unfortunately, a number of people find themselves with a poor signal - maybe down to geography or to buildings in the way or to large steel girders.
