5G whilst roaming in Spain
I can’t find any specific info on this in Q&A, so looking to anyone who has experience of this… I will be going on holiday to the Canary Islands (Spain) and this will be the first time I will have used my SMARTY SIM outside the UK. Spain is one of the included countries for free EU roaming, and the resort I am staying in has excellent coverage from all the 4 Spanish mobile networks, 2 of them offering 5G speeds. I have used my phone in Spain about 4 times and use the settings provided by smarty but it is so un reliable and drops out all the time and cannot be relied on. All other UK networks seem to work fine, it's so frustrating that I am thinking of changing provider.5.9KViews0likes9CommentsSpain roaming
I have roamed in Spain several times and always have an issue where I I predominantly remain on 3G and not 4g. Or sometimes lose access to mobile data entirely. A friend using EE on the same network (Movistar) does not have this issue and gets a constant 4G connection in the same areas. Settings are all as they should be and APN is set correctly. I’ve read of others having this issue on smarty and three - with the reply often just saying check APN settings, coverage, etc. Manually selecting Orange ES does give a signal that provides 4G. But the signal isn’t as good and if left on automatic the preferred network is Movistar. A mate is shortly going to Spain, he has been told that "Lobster Mobile" is an English language mobile phone provider in Spain, and he has asked my thoughts. I have been checking my data useage religiously since last Sunday. Yesterday I had used 1.8 gb of data .. the today driving across spain i had a problem connecting so i selected a different network from the lost becayse the signal was so poor. This eveing just after 21:00 you messaged to say that suddenly i have used more than 10gb of data .. for the past hour ive had no signal and yet now you claim i’ve gone over 12gb of data .. How is that possible?????? I feel completely mugged! This smarty 12gb in europe is obviously a scAm am d I sm going to complain to the regulator about your ‘fast practices’ and warm others not to switch to you.
