Will non-EU roaming ever have a cheaper option?
After bouncing around a few operators, now on Smarty and extremely happy so far. Runs like a rocket in UK, good reception (so far), price is great, setup/number-porting smooth, 12Gig roaming in EU is more than I'll ever need - only thing spoiling my complete happiness, is the cost of non-EU roaming. I think anywhere I'm likely to travel is on Three's list of "Go Roam" non-EU countries (e.g. US) - but only option on Smarty is to pay 10p a Meg. Now that's not absolutely horrific, but you're not going to be using your phone with joyous abandon. Any chance of there ever being another option - Daily charge? More premium monthly option? I understand you might not want to cannibalize from Three with the only differentiator I can see, but I'm not paying per Meg. I'll just buy a local PAYG or an e-Sim from travelsim - which is a bit of hassle. You're so close to making Smarty perfect.. So so close..7.2KViews2likes9CommentsCalling all Unlimited Plan customers…
We’re keen to hear from you and how we can enhance your experience with SMARTY so we have a few questions for you. You don’t have to answer them all, you don’t have to write pages and pages (unless you want to), we just really want to know how you feel about your plan and how we can make the experience better. Please be honest, feel free to make suggestions, you won’t hurt our feelings (I can cry in private), and we might be able to do something about some of them. (No promises.) Why are you on an Unlimited plan? Do you stream a lot of TV? Do you send hi-res images and video around? Do you use it overseas? Do you feel 12GB suits that need? Do you use an EU data pass to unlock the rest of your data when in Europe? What can do to make things better (other than reducing the price; that’s obvious and we all love a bargain)? Longer data passes? Non-EU passes? Rewards on your anniversary? No idea is off the table. (Might not be achievable, but no harm in asking, eh?) Of course, if everything is OK and you’re happy, post that too. Contentment is fine. Thanks6.7KViews1like26CommentsAllocation of data used
A long time ago I was given a 2Gb data add by Smarty as a 'sorry' for a mess-up. I generally don't use much data via mobile as I am often in places with wifi; the data add on hardly went down and equally I rarely used much data from my monthly plans. Recently, the add on started to show less left in it and I queried why data used was not primarily coming from my monthly plan. I was told that a system change in Aug. 2024 meant that any complimentary data add on would be used before data from a monthly plan. I thought that was a fair explanation and had no problem with it. This month, I had reason to use a fair bit of mobile data as I had a short broadband outage during a long Zoom meeting of some importance. After that, I noticed that the data add on had gone down but had not been used up, however my plan data had also been used. I asked the Support Team how come ALL of the data add on was not used up before the data was taken from my plan. I have not been able to get a proper response (e.g. "It takes a few hours to catch up on the system" - not so - or "What is wrong with your plan?" - nothing!) I am beginning to appreciate the problems that many people report on here when they deal with Smarty Support via web chat and that is a great pity because I often suggest that as a wy forward. It does indeed appear that some of staff there do not fully understand written English - I believe that I write quite clearly, but any of you are welcome too tell me otherwise if that's an honestly held opinion. Can anyone shed any light on this issue please? Just to summarise: Should a free data on be completely used before data is 'spent' from a monthly plan? YulianK - can you assist please?2.4KViews1like7Comments
