Mobile SIM or Data Only SIM?

Was wondering if you could point me in the right direction.

I use a data only SIM in my tablet to access the internet and a mobile SIM in my mobile, so I'm paying 2 bills and looking to save money.

Can I upgrade my mobile SIM to unlimited data and use my mobile as a hotspot to allow the tablet to access the internet? This would let me cancel the data only SIM and save some money.

Any guidance appreciated. Regards Peter.
