Amazon Echo Pop - Anyone have one ? If so, what do you think ?

Do any community members have an Amazon Echo Pop, and if so, what do you think ?

Do you consider it a good purchase or waste of money ?

JJP2 I have an Amazon Echo, but really not sure what model it is. I bought it because....let me think now....oh, yes...it was cheap!!! They are quite a good gimmick and we keep it in our kitchen where it can be useful for finding a fact quickly; you know the sort of thing "Alexa, what's the population of Burundi?" It's also good for finding a piece of music on Amazon and playing it.

If you work on Google programmes, I suppose it is also good for putting an event in your diary or on your shopping list (Siri is better for Apple users).

Overall and given its fairly low price, I would put it at a reasonable purchase.

      They are good.

I have an Amazon Echo 5 in the living room, and the old ice hockey puck type one in the kitchen, which I was thinking of replacing with the Echo Pop.

JJP2  At about 25 smackeroolies, it seems OK.

JJP2 I had the 2nd and 3rd gen hockey pucks for a while and then replaced them with the Echo Show models, and since then having a display and seeing Alexa visually has made that interaction easier especially with smart home features (turn lights off at the touch of a button, see cameras etc). The only thing is that I believe the sound quality is better from the pucks (up-firing) than they are from the screen devices (backwards-firing).

I guess the Pops use the same sort of speaker technology as the dots, but this time the speaker is front facing so the audio difference is more noticeable.

      Thanks jassingh

Currently looking at the Echo Flex, basically a three pin plug with a little white box attached. Would be ideal in tight spaces and also for travel.

JJP2 Yeah I hear you, they're quite nifty little devices especially if you need Alexa to work in a small area - I believe you can also get some add-ons (e.g. night light) that can plug into the USB port on it. I know a friend who was using it as a mini radio in his shed at the back of the house!
