WHY would you require someone's date of birth for a change of number

EVERY ONE using SMARTY be warned they are asking for your DATE OF BIRTH when they don't have it on file anyway, how are they going to verify this information.

AitchPa_1944298 What are you talking about? They absolutely have it on file as you have to provide it when you sign up.

If you are wanting to change your phone number and Smarty support are asking for your date of birth as part of that process, that will be one of a number of details they will be verifying to ensure you are who you claim to be. If they didn't do checks like that, anyone could come along, pretend to be you, and make changes to your account.

I suspect they gave a false date of birth at sign up and have forgotten it, and now they are unable to initiate a change of number.

Pretty sure I had to provide a date of birth during registration. I remember having to put my son's SIM in my name because SMARTY wouldn't let him register as he was under 13 years of age at the time.

Be warned, give a false date of birth, and you risk not being able to confirm your identity in the future should you forget what date you gave them, or they ask for proof of ID, such as a passport.
