Watch plan
Do I need to take out a separate smarty plan to make my Apple Watch 8 receive calls and messages?
SMARTY do not offer any plans that work with your watch.

The cellular version of the watch requires an sim and Smarty do not yet offer that. The other parts of what I said still stand i.e.you can use the GPS version of the watch to receive calls if your phone is fairly nearby. (I do that)

Does SMARTY plan to provide cellular plans on Apple or other cellular-enabled watches in the future?
None of UK MVNO's offer smartwatch plans, and it's unlikely that they ever will. You will need a plan with EE, THREE, O2 or Vodafone if you want such features.
SuziBra_2197963 If you want the watch to receive and make calls while you do not have your phone with you, then yes.
That will only apply if your watch is the GPS + cellular model. If it is GPS only, then you can only do that while you have your phone within range.
