Setting up phone for using abroad
Hi, I am going to USA and have purchased an add on. However the guidance shown bears no resemblance to my phone (i-phone 15). Chat is only a series of auto answers, I can't get a different response. Need to know what I do when I get there. Bought stand alone SIM last time and did what it said and it didn't work. Any advice?

Annette_3563378 If you are going to use Smarty in the USA, it will be expensive. If you have credit, then you will allow your phone to find a local network and then any usage should come from your credit....until it runs out. The guidance says that you need to make sure that in your Settings, Mobile Data Network, the APN is set to mob.asm.net - it is only necessary to do this once.
If you purchased a local sim, it is hard to know why that did not work.
You could also try an Esim for usage in different parts of the world - there are many e.g. Airalo, Roamless(I use that one successfully on iPhones 15pro & 17Pro) While it provides data, this allows calls via apps like WhatsApp. In the case of Roamless, you can if need be make'landline' calls via the app at rates that don't look too silly to me.
