order esim while physical sim is in transit?

I'm hoping for some advice please.

I ordered a physical sim replacement on Monday but it looks like it might be another couple of days before it arrives. I have a new phone arriving today (lost my last phone) and I need to get it set up asap.

My question is, can i request and set up an esim while the physical sim is in transit? I don't see an option to on my dashboard.
