Solved

Only choice is International roaming

Then it says I will be charged... Not I 'may' be charged. Smarty is saying I can use data as normal within the EU. Please advise, thanks. PS I have set the APN as advised by Smarty

    Sounds like something programmed into your Android handset by the manufacturer, and nothing to do with SMARTY. 

    You can use your SMARTY plan allowances to call, text, and use mobile data while you roam in an EU destination AngelaT_1873043. 

    The EU roaming destinations are currently:
    Austria,
    Belgium, Bulgaria,
    Comoros & Mayotte, Croatia, Cyprus (not North Cyprus), Czech Republic,
    Denmark,
    Estonia,
    Finland, France, French Guiana,
    Germany, Gibraltar, Greece,
    Hungary,
    Iceland, Ireland, Italy,
    Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg,
    Malta,
    Netherlands, Norway,
    Poland, Portugal,
    Reunion, Romania,
    Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.

      I agree, it's just my phone. Having said that I used the same phone last year but I was with Giffgaff and I didn't need to do anything! So it seems to be the type of phone and smarty

        AngelaT_1873043 Remember that data limited to 12Gb while EU roaming. You can over-ride that if you buy a data pass - see Price Guide.
