New Google account
Trying to set up a new Google account, but it won't accept the Smarty phone number to verify its me. This is a new Smarty mobile number.
Any ideas ?

Having the same issue on Imac.
YannBou_2910823 I have just tried to create a new Gmail a/c - on an iMac - and it certainly accepted my Smarty number without issue.
Yes, "This phone number cannot be used for verification.", what a pain!
I too had the same issue, but after some searching and lots of shouting at my computer... I found the answer:
I put sim card into an Android phone and used the Gmail app to create a new account, that sign-up process works differently and accepted the mobile phone number. I was able to create an account and then login via a web browser and turn two factor authentication too.
A long shot here…..does Google have some other number saved for your details?
Have you ported a number to Smarty recently. Can you check that it shows in your dashboard?
What device are you using to setup your Google Account TonyB?
If you're using your phone and it's not working, might be worth trying from a web browser on a laptop, or tablet.
