I carried my number over

I carried my old number over, my whats app is my original number but my text messages are the smarty number. When I reply to a text the person receiving the message has me under the smarty number, surely it should be my original "old" number?

Melanie_4270461 It is broadly as ZenovA says. Put simply, your phone has 'remembered ' the first number allocated to the sim before you ported in your number.

In an iPhone, you can often change the My Number entry in Settings.

If everything else fails, then a Network Reset usually succeeds, but some setting may need to be sorted again after it.

Melanie_4270461 This is a common problem as I believe SMS messaging apps verify the old SMARTY placeholder number, and then doesn't reverify when you get assigned a new number. There are many threads online and here in the community about this issue.

I found that deactivating RCS, turning off Phone Number Verification in the Google settings, clearing Google Messages app cache, restarting your phone, and then turning on Number Verify and RCS back on again.
