First word cut off

I wonder if someone might be able to help me. When I call somebody using my mobile over the smarty network the first word of every sentence seems to be cut off by some sort of aggressive noise gate or some other issue. This makes conversations incredibly frustrating and difficult. I might add I have only just joined the network and have been making calls for the past few days only.
