Dodgy visit from FREE in France

Dodgy visit from FREE in France.

I am in France, in second home. I notice our mobile network when roaming is FREE, both for my wife and myself.

We had a visit from an "engineer" from "FREE" wanting to install a FreeBox for our WiFi. He wanted to come into our house - refused. We requested his paperwork - none. Told him we are on Orange here.

I can't get to someone in Smarty to see if FREE are a recommended network supplier for roaming. If so I would report this. Any way I can actually talk to someone in Smarty because I need to discuss this with them.?

Thanks, Ian

IanPatt_3088613 There is only web chat available to talk to the agents. http://www.smarty.co.uk/contact

If your phone is picking up the network, then it will be fine to use it for roaming. You can use calls and texts plus up to 12Gb from any Smarty plan you have. You can use EU Roaming for up to 60 days at a time as well.

I don't think there is anything much that Smarty can tell you. I have looked at the company's website:

https://mobile.free.fr/en/voyages-forfait-europe-france and you can check for anything there - they appear to be a bona fide company from that, but the guy could well have been a chancer. The FreeBox does exist but it seems that they will charge you beaucoup d'argent for the privilege of having one:

Bon chance ! Je croix que vous avez raison! (Good luck, I think you are right)

      Merci pour votre réponse rapide.

Not French, I'm a Geordie :-). But my wife is French.

My main reason for the post was I think Smarty may be interested. I don't think it is a coincidence that an "engineer" came from FREE to install their Freebox and wanted to have access to our house. Will just monitor the situation. If it happens again we will have a chat with our local Marie.

      Thank you.
