poor signal
3 TopicsACCESS POINT NAMES - worth tweaking mine for some improvements? (Samsung S23)
Hi. Over the last couple of days, mobile data signal is flickering to none existence, and signal is very poor. I rely completely on using mobile data as I have no WiFi at home. All was fine until I did a Samsung update on Sunday and now the phone is behaving like it's on 2g mostly, or 3g at the very best. I'm stabbing in the dark here, as the update can't be rolled back, but I wondered if editing phone access point names could help? I can see that Smarty's recommended settings are these: Android General APN settings (Android): Name: 3 APN: mob.asm.net User name: [leave this field blank] Password: [leave this field blank] MMSC: http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc MMS proxy: mms.three.co.uk MMS port: 8799 APN type: [leave this field blank] My current settings are the same except for: Name: Smarty internet APN type: default.supl.mms.xcap Plus I have a whole host of others in the settings list that can be tweaked, but Smarty doesn't state them. I've done the usual.. restarted phone / switched in and out of flight mode / and wiped the cache partition after the update. Any thoughts on how improve things even just a little somehow please? Hi all, Today I ported over from Plusnet/EE to Smarty, but am most unimpressed so far. I have gone form having full signal to one bar all day, and had mixed messages via customer service as to if my port is still happening, or there is a problem. I was told that after 5pm it would all work but thats not happened. Can someone offer any advice here? If this keeps up I will likely be switching to another network early next week, as I am currently without any meaningful phone service and data does not work in an area that usually is very good. Thanks.Solved19KViews0likes21CommentsAppalling Signal
I'm afraid after only a week I will be leaving Smarty. The bundle value seems fantastic but I can see why it's so cheap. It can't be used due to the dreadful signal availability. I live in South Cumbria. At home the signal checker says good 4g indoors and outside. I only get 1 bar and very slow speeds. The phone is defaulting to WiFi calling as the signal is so poor. Went to Kendal yesterday, no signal in the centre of town. Half a mile out I got only h+ which was also unusable. Retail park further out, 1 bar and slow 4g Today I've been in various places in a 20 mile radius of home. Consistently the signal has been 1 bar or nonexistent. No it's not my handset. I moved from Vodafone due to price but had no signal issues. It is a rural area but the checker is not telling the truth. It's so bad I'm going to write off what I paid for a month and go to another provider.2.1KViews1like3Comments
