Enough is enough - eSIM *now*
As per $subject. It is now inexcusable for Smarty to not support eSIM. 3 UK support it, yet are limiting it to post-paid, with prepaid excluded. This is not acceptable. Why are *all* US carriers supporting eSIM for post *and* pre-paid, even before Apple forced their hand, yet the UK - again - lags behind?52KViews17likes42CommentsApple Watch e-sim
Hi, I’m just wondering whether SMARTY has any plans to introduce e-sim smart watch ads ons in the near future. I’ve recently purchased a cellular Apple Watch and don’t want to move away from the SMARTY network, but may have to begrudgingly do this if nothing is on the horizon. Thanks. I recently returned to Giffgaff after being on an EE contract for a few years. I would have chosen Smarty if it supported eSIM, but there appears to be no effort whatsoever to adopt the new technology. I keep checking back because I do think Smarty reception is superior in my area, but I'm done with SIM cards now, they just end up in landfills when you switch. A lot of start ups now offering roaming eSIMs and even Revolut getting in on the game. If they can do it, why can't Smarty? Why are you dragging your heels on this, Smarty?17KViews7likes10CommentsiPhone 14 support 5G and Wi-Fi calling
SMARTY does not currently support 5G and Wi-Fi calling on the latest iPhone 14 range. It therefore would be a BIG step-down in terms features for many customer’s that are planning to upgrade their mobile phone or receiving new phones as Christmas presents. Unlike the USA model, the iPhone 14 range of phones in the UK does still have a SIM Tray, so SMARTY not supporting an eSIM would not be a deal breaker here? On speaking to Customer Service at SMARTY I have been advised that you are waiting for Apple in order to move this forward, yet the Apple website shows that the 3 network infrastructure does already support both of these features already? EDIT 8/12/2022 SMARTY has a slogan of simple, honest mobile. However, this question hasn’t been answered by anyone at SMARTY, and further questions other topics have been posted afterwards, which have been answered? I’d like to upgrade my phone, but so far I’m getting the generic response of “we are adding new phones all the time”, but no actual indication whether this phone will be indeed be added, despite the fact it is already has 5G and Wi-Fi calling on 3? If it’s a case that 3 won’t let you do this, then why not be honest? Not answering the question or giving a response that is non committing is not really demonstrating this? Other MVNOs with other network providers do have iPhone 14 compatibility. New phones from other manufacturers are supported by SMARTYSolved8.5KViews2likes7CommentseSIM is here 🎉
You’ve been asking, and we’ve been listening. We’re excited to let you know that eSIM is now available for existing SMARTY customers🙌 We’re starting things off with a soft launch, so right now you’ll only see the option if you’re an existing customer and you go through the SIM replacement journey. That means if your phone supports eSIM and you want to switch from your physical SIM, you’re good to go. Wait, what’s an eSIM? An eSIM (which stands for embedded SIM) is a small chip that’s built directly into your phone or device. Instead of inserting a physical SIM card, your mobile plan can be downloaded straight onto the eSIM. Think of it like streaming a song instead of popping in a CD, it’s all digital, and it’s all seamless. How to make the switch Just log into your SMARTY account, head to Account settings > Manage plan > Replace SIM, and choose to replace your current SIM with an eSIM. Follow the remaining steps and you’ll be up and running in no time. We’re rolling this out carefully to keep things smooth, but more eSIM goodness is on the way 👀 Need more information or support on eSIM? Check out our Help and FAQ page for the most common FAQs.
