eSIM
25 TopicseSIM is here 🎉
You’ve been asking, and we’ve been listening. We’re excited to let you know that eSIM is now available for existing SMARTY customers🙌 We’re starting things off with a soft launch, so right now you’ll only see the option if you’re an existing customer and you go through the SIM replacement journey. That means if your phone supports eSIM and you want to switch from your physical SIM, you’re good to go. Wait, what’s an eSIM? An eSIM (which stands for embedded SIM) is a small chip that’s built directly into your phone or device. Instead of inserting a physical SIM card, your mobile plan can be downloaded straight onto the eSIM. Think of it like streaming a song instead of popping in a CD, it’s all digital, and it’s all seamless. How to make the switch Just log into your SMARTY account, head to Account settings > Manage plan > Replace SIM, and choose to replace your current SIM with an eSIM. Follow the remaining steps and you’ll be up and running in no time. We’re rolling this out carefully to keep things smooth, but more eSIM goodness is on the way 👀 Need more information or support on eSIM? Check out our Help and FAQ page for the most common FAQs. Thanks for sticking with us and your feedback helped make this one happen 💚8.6KViews9likes37CommentsSIM to eSIM transfer. Dashboard Banner!
I recently changed from a physical SIM to an eSIM. On my dashboard I still see the banner which asks me if I want to keep the new smarty number of bring my number over to smarty. I only seem to be able to get rid of the banner by selecting one or the other option but none of them apply to me. I brought my number over when I ported to Smarty on the physical SIM so I don't want to select the "bring my number over" option. I dare not select the "keep my new Smarty number" in case it gives me a new number! Anyone else been through this?21Views0likes0CommentsHow easy is it to transfer eSIM from old iPad to new iPad.
Will be setting up my new iPad Mini 7 this weekend to replace an over 4 year old iPad Mini 6 and was wondering how easy it was to transfer eSIM to new iPad. I only been using eSIM in my iPad Mini 6 about 5 weeks. Since I bowed over from a Sim Card. The new iPad Mini 7 is eSIM only. Any help would be helpful.61Views0likes3CommentseSim Swapping
Hi, I am trying out a couple of phones, including the new iPhone Air. If I wanted to swap the eSim from the Air to another phone, will Smarty charge me for the privilege? Mozillian wanted to charge me £3 for reissuing an eSim, so I ended my contract with them in the first 14 days. Thanks.39Views0likes0CommentsSmarty eSim and Apple Watch
Hi community! The recent Apple announcement on the iPhone Air seems to have forced Smarty's hand on eSim. So we finally have eSim on Smarty!! However, trying to enable Mobile Service on my Apple Watch and I get: "Your airtime plan is not compatible with the smartwatch pairing service - Please call your contact center" After speaking with Smarty support, it seems they just dont support smartwatches. So, we are in the same place as several years ago, just with an eSim instead of a physical sim. Seems really odd, the older posts about Smartwatch support got replies saying "We dont support eSim so you cant use your Smartwatch". However, now you have eSim support and we still cant use Smartwatches. Whats the reason this time?? I dont mind paying a few extra quid each month for it to work, I just want it to work!1KViews4likes2CommentsEsim
Is smarty ever going to get with the times and start eSIM or not, in the very near future. I would prefer to stay with my plan but if smarty are not going to be a up to date provider I’ll just have to go through the process of the PAC transfer sooner rather than never.31KViews6likes31CommentsURGENT: SMARTY is failing now, time to move to ID
Compare Smarty to ID on here: https://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/compare/sim_only_deals/ Smarty is honestly terrible. ID offers so much more on the same network for the same price. They offer more data per £, data rollover, more EU countries access, 30GB EU Roaming (18 more than Smarty), e-sim for Watches, 3 months of Apple TV + Music. It is a no-brainer to switch now, Smarty has lost it's game sadly.810Views0likes2CommentsE sim
I hope SMARTY offer eSIM one day it’s something they should consider, especially with newer mobile phones going to eSIM only go on, SMARTY get your skates. on i’ve been very pleased with SMARTY so far very good signal and no issues at all since joining last November everything is running fine😃Solved1.3KViews2likes2CommentsLots of eSIM companies popping up and Smarty is still lagging behind?
I recently returned to Giffgaff after being on an EE contract for a few years. I would have chosen Smarty if it supported eSIM, but there appears to be no effort whatsoever to adopt the new technology. I keep checking back because I do think Smarty reception is superior in my area, but I'm done with SIM cards now, they just end up in landfills when you switch. A lot of start ups now offering roaming eSIMs and even Revolut getting in on the game. If they can do it, why can't Smarty? Why are you dragging your heels on this, Smarty?17KViews7likes10CommentsTransfer from giffgaff eSIM
I've ported over from GiffGaff - just had the message to say my port was successful. My iMessage and phone number don't seem to have changed yet. But I was wondering whether that's related to the eSIM that I have from GG? Do I delete it? It says if I do that then my old number will no longer be associated with my iPhone. Not sure if that's ok (I think it probably is!)Solved4.1KViews0likes12Comments
