Wi Fi Calling no longer works as of 5th June 2025
Hi gang, my wifi calling stopped working in our home. Since approx 5th of June 2025. (I been using wifi calling past 5 months from home with Smarty no issues) I have chatted with Smarty team, the experience was ok actually worked for me. They replied with "To summarise, we’ve tried all the troubleshooting steps and updated the APN settings. Unfortunately, this hasn’t resolved the issue. Therefore, I’ve raised a case on your behalf for further investigation." I then called a friend who has no reception in their home, has a Smarty sim, he tried WiFi calling. Guess what he said it's not working it did before. Is there a theme here ? The only change recently is this 31st May Three UK recently merged with Vodafone UK, forming a new company called VodafoneThree. This merger was completed on May 31, 2025, according to Vodafone. Hi, has anyone on here got a Samsung A35 or A55? I’m just trying to see if Smarty works on Wi-Fi calling on these models as these are not on the latest Smarty list of compatibile phones. I have tried everything smarty have suggested concerning WiFi calling. I have a Samsung A55 5g handset and I live in a rural area so I NEED wifi calling, and I THOUGHT I had it. When making or receiving calls, 'sorry I can't hear you' is something I constantly hear as my signal drops in and out. I'm getting a couple of bars of signal strength in my house. My phone is compatible with Wifi calling and is enabled in settings, and it's wifi is switched on. The wifi itself is also switched on, with a good internet signal and my phone is well within range. How do I tell if Wifi calling is working or not? I made a couple of calls to land lines today, and they both complained that I kept cutting out, even though I could hear them ok. I would have thought that if Wifi calling was actually working, I would not have this problem. Any suggestions please on what I can do? I have NOT been able to receive or make calls !!! I Just get a silent hang while trying to make calls then an error message “” CALL FAILED “”… and I call myself and it goes straight to voicemail ( which I don’t have setup !!!) even when set to 4G / voLTE / 5G / WiFi Calling !!!! And over the past year I have had 30% of my year with NO INTERNET DATA CONNECTION…. Even after being forced by smarty’s staff to do the same steps over and over and over when CX tea refunded me one months bill and told me to leave if I’m NOT happy with smarty mobile !!! And confirmed that I followed all steps correctly ( eg: being forced to hourly reset my NETWORK SETTINGS ON MY iPhone 12 128GB !! Which doesn’t help including changing my APN settings over and over and over !!!!!! “” OOKLA “” speed test shows bearly enough speed to even move …. ( 4.00Mbps ) which is not even enough to open a simple webpage or refresh WhatsApp , Instagram or Facebook !!!! Emails randomly appear late etc !!! Going back to missing calls and unable to make calls which just started a month or two ago!!!!! CALLS ARE VITAL FOR ME DUE TO DOCTORS & HOSPITAL APPOINTMENTS AND CATCH UP’s WEEKLY!!! also I have a elderly mother who I need to connect to regularly due to health concerns and checking up on her for peace of mind !! I am beyond stressed and full of anxiety by SMARTY MOBILE who say it is “””NETWORK CONGESTION “” and apparently there is nothing that can be done !!!!! But…. THE ISSUE IS AT BOTH ADDRESSES NOT JUST ONE !!!!! So …. Clearly it is a completely error / fault … I use the postcode checker & network checker daily and it shows no issues whatsoever… but OOKLA SPEED TEST APP SHOWS EXTREMELY UNACCEPTABLE LOW SPEED JUST ABOUT PICKS UP SPEED ( 4.00Mbps ) just taken now … sometimes it’s even worse ( 1.00Mbps ) which will not even open anything data wise !!! I live in a poor reception area, 2, 1 or no bars. I have 'wifi calling ' enabled. On 1 or 2 bars I can call but the call gets into difficulty and eventually the line drops out. Can I force my phone/Smaty to prioiritse to always make wifi calls from home? Hi! I have a new Fold 4 and noticed a behaviour around wifi calling. I have enabled wifi calling in the menu - when the mobile signal drops to no bars the wifi calling icon appears. When the signal moves to 1 or 2 bars then it turns off. This is an issue since my mobile signal is borderline so want wifi calling by default. On my old Note 9 you could set the calling preference but this option is not available on the new phone (Android 13). I've done some googling and getting mixed messages around this whether it is an android setting and/or a setting that is available for only certain network providers. Does anyone on Smarty with earlier android version have the wifi preferred option? Thanks in advance, Richard PS There is the "flight mode" option as a work around which works and I've set up a routine to turn this on and off depending if I'm home or not so this will hopefully work as a fallback! Just joined Smarty with my Samsung A34 5G dual sim. Wifi calling works with both sims simultaneously and 5G on both simultaneously, one is on EE and the other is Smarty. There does seem to be an issue with Smarty going onto wifi calling, it seems to prefer to use the cellular network if the signal is good. You can force this by going onto airplane mode and manually switching on wifi while airplane mode is still on, and wifi calling comes on instantly. Not the best, will see how it goes when my number is ported over and have a chance to use it properly. Just got to switch off my voicemail now.6.4KViews0likes11Comments
