4 TopicsLondon Underground WiFi auto-connect issues
I cannot seem to auto-connect to London Underground WiFi anymore, and now I have to manually click 'Three_WiFi' to connect. I used to be able to walk into a station, and as long as I had WiFi enabled, it would automatically connect. It would also auto-connect at every station that the train stopped at, which is useful in sections where the train is underground. I have read these two community posts: Auto Wi-Fi log in London Underground? | SMARTY Community and London underground wifi | SMARTY Community, but none of the advice has helped. I have checked that the Auto connect option is enabled for the access point, and tried disabling and re-enabling it. It does not work at any station I've been on, walking around the stations, and it does not matter whether the station is crowded during peak hours or during the afternoon with only a couple of people. I dropped my EAP method down from AKA' (which I could auto-connect with before) to AKA, and even SIM, which did not work either so I set it back up to AKA'. I tried forgetting Three_WiFi and then connecting again, and I also tried again but initially connecting with the EAP AKA and EAP SIM methods. I also tried resetting mobile network settings, which also did not work I also turned off Random MAC address and enabled Send device name to the network, which did not fix it I seem to have lost this capability after updating to Android 17 on my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, so maybe that update broke it? This seems to be consistent with the findings from eekamouse (Auto Wi-Fi log in London Underground? | SMARTY Community and London underground wifi | SMARTY Community), where the phone's software might be problematic. However, my phone can auto-connect to another EAP network that uses PEAP, so perhaps they only broke the Mobile Network authentication methods? Can anyone else confirm whether they can auto-connect to the Underground WiFi just fine?11Views0likes0CommentsNew user - can't connect to Wifi during transfer period
I'm a new customer, I transferred from EE and activated my SIM 2 days ago. I'm currently in the transfer period of bringing over my new number due to complete tomorrow 15/04/24. It was working fine last night but as of today my phone is unusable - I can't download any data or use any apps. My iPhone does not connect to Wifi as of this morning. I could understand an issue with data connection during the transfer, it's mentioned that this can take place, but it's completely illogical that the Wifi isn't connecting. It appears to be connected, I have reset it, I have checked for network errors on Zen (it's working on my laptop). I have reset my network settings, and updated the APN. Smarty customer services were not helpful - they kept answering in regards to service outages for mobile data due to engineering works and 'too many people trying to connect to the mast at once'. That's not the issue for me at home, obviously, and I can think of no other reason that my iPhone is behaving so strangely apart from the transfer. Has anyone else had this issue during transfer, how long did it last, how did they resolve? I don't know if it will work itself out in a day or two or it's a permanent issue that I need to fix urgently. The response from customer services has made me worried I've made a terrible mistake in joining Smarty, particularly as I've seen lots of comments/complaints today on the forum about data connection and wifi connection being bad - I'm used to getting a decent 5G service and being able to stream music and download video on mobile with no issues. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it - I need my phone to work because of all the app based authentication on my phone.Solved7.8KViews0likes12CommentsDownload Speed...Mbs
I have activated a new SIM from Smarty after using EE for 6 years. The reason for the change was the Unlimited Data price. WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WAS. Realising this after only 2 days. My EE Download speed is 75Mbs average. SMARTY' Download speed is a disgusting 0.70Mbs. Apparently the mast near me is being looked at by engineers. I can't help feel I have been lied too, 100%. Time to go back on my old EE SIM I think.Solved9.2KViews1like9CommentsFavourite router?
What are folks' favourite routers for use with a Smarty data SIM? I will need one for a few weeks. I don't want to spend a fortune but want something that will set up easily and maintain a signal. Brand? Price/performance? Easy of set up and reliability of connection?1.3KViews0likes0Comments
