I’ve noticed that visual voicemail is now working on my iPhone, must have been a recent update by Smarty👍🏼

No, that's Live Voicemail, which is an answerphone built into iOS itself. If your phone is off or out of coverage, the call will still go to Smarty's voicemail service, which you will need to call to retrieve your messages.
