South America
You would need to add credit to your account to do so, and the costs are very high. For example, data is 10p per MB (about £100 per GB) in Brazil, 25p per MB (about £250 per GB) in Argentina. It would be much cheaper for you to get a local SIM in South America, or use a travel eSIM like Airalo if your phone supports eSIM.

I heard good things about Airalo but their Trustpilot scores are terrible - any thoughts?

DavidGr_1670207 I used them last year on a trip and they were fine. More recently I used Roamless and they were also fine - the good thing is that you retain any unused credit on your account (as opposed to a fixed term plan from Airalo) although I believe that they may be slightly more expensive per unit in some countries.
