Hi. I am moving from o2 to smarty and want to make sure all my apps, photos, messages etc transfer across. Does it happen automatically as I think my data backs up to iCloud

If you are keeping the same phone, nothing will happen to your apps at all, you are merely changing the SIM card.

If you are changing iPhones, do a manual back up before setting up your new iPhone, as the back up can be used to make sure your apps, contacts and calendar are set up on your new iPhone.

@Agepage99 You can check that your iPhone is backed up to your iCloud account in the Settings.

A change from O2 to Smarty should have absolutely no affect on the data that your phone holds. The sim itself does not actually hold apps, phots, etc - they are actually downloaded to the phone.

Putting in the new sim will only change the number - it will be a random one allocated when you activate the sim. You can then port your own number from O2 using a PAC and then your phone should run on your old number. One tip: iPhones sometimes 'remember' the first number on the sim and so you may need to manually change the number once you have ported it across - there are help articles on this topic if it happens.
