I have changed the settings in network for roaming but when I arrive in Spain  my phone foesn’t switch immediately to a local network.  Why is this?

If it takes a few minutes, that’s normal.

The network you are roaming on overseas has to check that it has roaming agreements with your home network, in this case Smarty.

I was recently in the USA and when getting off planes in Dublin and then my connecting flights in the eastern USA prior to my connecting flight to Arizona, it would take my phone a few minutes to connect to a network in Ireland and the USA. This is a normal part of roaming abroad and nothing to worry about.

@Jacquel_1851247  From recent experience roaming in Europe, this can certainly take a few minutes while the phone "tunes" in to local networks to check out what it will connect to. Think of it like setting up a TV for the first time.
