New User - poor signal

Recently purchased a SIM only contract and transferred my old telephone number so as to minimise impact of change to my contacts. I am not able to use my phone because there is a poor, but usually no signal. I am incredibly disappointed as in my research for a SIM card 3 showed a good signal in this area.

@StanB  Unfortunately, the Coverage Checker can only give an overall indication for an area and cannot allow for signal being shielded due to building structures, differences in ground elevation etc..

The good thing about Smarty is that you are not tied into a long contract if it doesn't work out for you.
