    Hello,

To make international calls from the UK, you need to purchase an "out of plan add-on." This is highlighted in our T&C's which you agreed upon at the time of sign up.

    "The Service

4.5(c) You can make international calls and roam abroad with SMARTY. To do so, you will need to purchase an Out of Plan Add-on."

Natalie is of course perfectly correct.

Another option is for you to use WhatsApp to make a free call to the French number, as long as when you make the call, you have mobile data or WiFi connectivity. The other person will also need to have WhatsApp of course.

      hi Natalie,

how is it that I can roam in the EU and make calls and texts on my existing plan without an add on but I cannot make a call to an EU country from the Uk without an add on

PaulHar_2871751  I think that networks do a deal with other networks to allow EU roaming - even then, they limit the amount of data that  customer can use.

When it comes to making international calls, no such agreement seems to exist generally, although there are some networks that allow some international calls - they've obviously done some deal or are prepared to wear the cost.

If international calls are important within your package, it may pay you to see if there is an alternative that allows it while retaining a competitive price like smarty's.
