Help! Daily Mb usage abroad is ticking down fast!!

Im currently abroad in EU country and I have 12g to use. I just noticed in the smarty app under Data usage history that smarty is counting Mb's like never before. On a normal  day in UK I typically use  about 200Mb max, already this morning history shows 256mb without me having used the phone, yesterday the Mb was around 800 and that is me using it less then normal. What is going on??

    I don't know if this helps you at all but when I'm not using my phone directly I put it into Airplane Mode.  This shuts off all activity and I can monitor my usage more easily.

    Is your phone also checking and downloading emails? As Chalkychap says, there may well be apps that are connecting and using data.

    Not sure if you have an iPhone. If so, messages are often sent via iMessage and this will use some data too.

    Check the data usage of your apps Mosctly.

    You should be able to do this from the Settings app on your handset.

    Also, maybe close any apps you don't need to use.
