Fully agree, perhaps make this an account option selectable by the user so those who want to can use short codes for charity donations, contact transport police, reply to surveys etc.

They could very easily implement this as an option when you purchase an additional text bundle to your plan. This weekend when trying to enter a radio competition I found the text hadn’t gone through, I seen the additional text plans which stated “texts for anything extra outside of your plan” so I purchased it thinking it would allow me to use the credit for the text entry for the competition but found out after that it still didn’t work and after contacting Support was told it was a blanket “we do not support this in any shape or form” so the additional plan add-on wording definitely needs updating as it’s very misleading.

I constanly get texts from a pizza place offering me great deals on tasty treats that are very very tempting.
Unfortunately I moved house 3 years ago and can longer avail myslf of the fabulous feasts they offer.
This is doubly bad because I am reminded constantly of the superior italian fare that I no longer have access to. Only the inferior dough lumps from my local alternative.
Cancel the sms subscription, you say?
How? I have to text NOTXT to a short code...and I'm on Smarty.
C'mon not-so-smarty company...sort it out.
