Will A Data Sim allow WiFi calls?

I have a TP-Link MiFi unit that I mostly use for data. I'm thinking of getting a Smarty data only sim, would I be able to place WiFi calls through that MiFi unit with a Smarty data sim? I'll be using my phone purely in its WiFi mode. 

I have searched the forum, but it seems like this may be an unusual use case.

    Thanks for your reply MSF, your answer makes sense. 

    Maybe I need a data sim in my phone and a normal sim in the MiFi. I may have to do some testing over the next week. 

    I'll keep checking to see if anyone else has any knowledge of doing this.

    TonyHolden​ Although I am not certain, my feeling is that you will NOT be able to do that.

    Wifi calling kicks in when standard mobile call signal is not adequate for the job. As your sim will not be provisioned for mobile calls, then I do not see this option being operative.

    Anyone with better knowledge, please feel free to come in on this!
