Why can't I phone an NHS Hospital to make appointment?
I'm trying to phone an NHS Hospital for an appointment, but get the message: 'Sorry, you've not been given access to this service'. Help!

Using the Smarty chat, I was told that NHS phone numbers were premium services and I needed to buy and add-on service from Smarty. This is incorrect. ALL UK NHS hospital numbers are standard rate numbers. So internal hospital numbers are 'private by default' under a recent NHS short-term policy to prevent criminals accessing the hospital networks. The numbers I used to phone my local hospital are standard rate numbers. They should not be barred on Smarty networks. Using an iPhone one the Smarty network, I was able to contact the hospital to get my health. Thank you.

PaulConw_118883 I do agree that it seems were given incorrect information because I have certainly phoned a number of NHS hospital numbers on my normal Smarty plan. If you have the transcript of the conversation, I would consider it worth a formal Complaint to get someone retrained.
The problem seems to be that landline numbers operating on internet telephony sometimes do not connect on first try. I have experienced this a number of times. If you try again a little later, it usually works.
