Recent data outage

A few days ago, while out, my (fairly recent) phone showed no service, from late afternoon, to the next afternoon, about twenty hours. 

Due to a home move, I don't have home broadband, and rely on a good data level for Hotspots, etc. 

'no service' was a real bind. I dug out the sim, transferred it to another phone, and it was OK! 

I thought there may have been a general outage - I've just checked network coverage, and apparently there may still be an issue nearby. With the Sim transferred back again, it seems OK, if quite a faff. If you're completely without service overnight, it's a hassle, and I nearly bought another backup. Still might.
