New Google account
Trying to set up a new Google account, but it won't accept the Smarty phone number to verify its me. This is a new Smarty mobile number. Any ideas ?
Yes, "This phone number cannot be used for verification.", what a pain!
I too had the same issue, but after some searching and lots of shouting at my computer... I found the answer:
I put sim card into an Android phone and used the Gmail app to create a new account, that sign-up process works differently and accepted the mobile phone number. I was able to create an account and then login via a web browser and turn two factor authentication too.
