0800 numbers
Probably best to start a chat with Smarty support about this, they may be able to get to the bottom of it.
The question hasn't been answered. I have the same problem. I have been a Smarty customer for years, and today need to call an 0800 number, but as soon as I dial, the call goes dead. Why is this happening? I have started a chat, but now am waiting for a customer care agent to help me. The Smarty blog says that all 0800 numbers are included in the plan. Clearly this is not the case. I'd like this fixed, so I can make my call, but I'd also like an explanation shared with the community that explains why this has happened. What's gone wrong? And how will it be fixed for future users? Thank you.
I am having the same problem, 0800 number does not connect. Trying later does not work either, never connects no matter the time of day or night I tried. I need to connect to an 0800 number NOW, not in a while or sometime later!
DonaldGo_279357 From personal experience, the reason is that a lot of 0800 numbers operate via internet telephony. When you dial, the call goes from mobile to landline and then to internet and sometimes this breaks down. Usually, if you try again a little while later, it works fine.
How will it be fixed? Goodness knows! Possibly when all telephone service is via internet after standard copper cable has ended?
