Mistakenly Ordered a Data Sim, For My Phone.

Hi, I have had no proper phone connection for 3 weeks and I don't know how to go about sorting it.  I have 2 Smarty Sims, one goes into my router for mobile Wi-Fi on my boat, (No PAC) I pay £12.50 pm for 100GB and I am happy with that. But with my 2nd Sim I mistakenly ordered a Data Sim with my PAC number and also mistakenly signed up to a group plan. I can receive calls and Texts, but cant call out/Text or use the Internet. When I try to order a Monthly Mobile Phone Sim, it says I cant move to a monthly rollover from a Data Sim. So all I want is a normal phone Sim with my PAC number on it and to delete the Data Sim, but my PAC number is on the Data Sim. I don't want to leave Smarty but if I cant get this sorted in a week, I will have no choice.

I'm someone who has personal experience of getting a data package by accident , I provisioned the 2GB data package without calls and texts by mistake when I activated my Sim. I contacted Smarty support on web chat and the agent was able to action a request on the system that it be changed to the 5 GB package which includes calls and texts. When I went to my dashboard I could see this change had been requested.

However the agent stated that this change would not be actioned until my next billing date and he was unable to action it any faster.

My phone will accept 2 sim cards and so in the meantime I got a GiffGaff Sim and activated that for calls and texts to see me through. Its cost me about £6 but mea culpa. I'm the one who  screwed up and It's not the end of the world :)

Ok thanks, I had a feeling I could/will lose my number. I'll try Webchat Afgain.

StevenP_3066945 A web chat with Smarty Support is needed so that they can remotely re-provision your sim to work with calls and texts.

Hi, I tried to do a webchat, I pressed the Webchat Button but just kept getting lists of 'Help Topics', with no seemingly way of actually communicating. So the Data Sim I want to replace with a Mobile Monthly Sim will renew on 3rd August. So I have ended the User Agreement for the Data Sim and I intend to order a Phone Sim on 4th Aug, but I'm worried that I may lose my PAC Number which I've had for 25years which is on the Data Sim. What do you think?

StevenP_3066945 Just one thing.....NO,NO, Please NO!!! (Attempt to stop you losing your number!) If you order a new sim and start again, you cannot use a PAC code to move a number within the same network.

Firstly http://www.smarty.co.uk/contact and at bottom of the page you should see "start a web chat" and that should show you a "message us" button. Now, you won't get an instant response usually because the agents are busy but they will get back to you.

If you turn off the auto renew function in your account dashboard, this will stop you getting the wrong plan again. Meanwhile, you can ask the agent to change your sim to a standard service (I'm pretty sure that they do this remotely on their system). Then you can buy a standard plan and go forth happy with your usual number!
