Honor magic 5 pro

Hi, I have just bought yesterday an Honor magic 5 pro.

When I try and use my smarty SIM it connects for about 20 seconds then loses signal and says emergency calls only.

A reboot and going in and out of aeroplane mode is exactly the same, connects for 20 seconds then emergency calls only.

I have tried both SIM slots and it's the same.

There is no WiFi calling setting either.

I have checked the APN settings and they are fine.

I've done a network reset and the same problem.

The phone and all software is up to date.

I have noticed on the internet that others have had similar issues with Smarty.

Is there anything else before ditching Smarty for another network.

    Hawkwind Did you check Network Coverage for your area and also Network Status currently?

      Hi, yes I did, chat also said there are no issues in my area.

      The switch has started today anyway so there's nothing left for me to try now.

        Hawkwind Have just seen other posts that suggest there was a nationwide problem today. (My daughter also reported having no signal on Smarty for a while).

    Ah well I've had to port my number to another network 😞

    I contacted online chat but they could not help.

    A pity but it is what it is.

    I should add that the phone is on the compatible list for WiFi calling.
