Caller announcement for incoming calls no longer working?
Ok, so it sounds like there's no issue at Smarty's end.
I'm wondering if that setting gets reset when you insert a new SIM into your phone. Here's some instructions I found for how to enable it if you use Google's dialer app.. obviously the steps may be a bit different if you use a different dialer app.
Can you see the caller ID (phone number or name) of the person who is calling you?

Yep, that's done it! Many thanks - it seems I'd enabled caller announcement in the Samsung dialer App but not the Google one - as you say, seems the setting got reset. Cheers 👍
