Address fraud

I am an existing Smarty customer and previously very happy with them.

I’ve had two SIM cards sent to my address for a third party who does not live here and never has done. Trying to get Smarty to take positive action has been a nightmare. I know I need to report it to Action Fraud ( now called Report Fraud) and I am very aware of the risks that this is address fraud. Has anyone else dealt with their Fraud Team?

WendyMc_1894068 Hi Wendy, I think you saying both items have the same addressee? Without publishing your address, if for example you live in a genericly named location like Station or Church Road its possible the wrong postcode or house number was mistakenly added by the customer, who got fed up waiting and bought a shop sim

Photograph the envelopes with the words, "Smarty addressee is unknown to  us, return to sender" written by you on the face and put two diagonal lines through your address before returning to Smarty.

Difficult to see how the use of your address would benefit a fraudster as they have made a payment, to get the first sim and then Smarty routinely send a spare sim out a week or so later..

WendyMc_1894068 I have not dealt with the Fraud Team but would say that they can only send cards to an address that they have been given.

Surely the best way to deal with this is to pop them back into a post box with "Not known at this address" written clearly on the pack.

As there is no service supplied on a credit basis with Smarty, it is harder to see where the address fraud would be useful to the scammer scum. I agree that it is however very irritating.
