Always travel with your essentials in your hand luggage (which includes spare underwear, swimsuits and powerbank) so if your luggage does get delayed, you can still start your holiday in style!

Find somewhere to stay that has LOADS to do in the local area (hikes, runs, backpacking adventures, maybe beaches or lakes, some key amenities) so that you don’t have to drive much and it feels like a proper break from rushing to and fro!

Book ahead to ensure you get the good restaurants. Seek out the small husband and wife style places for fantastic regional food and an intimate atmosphere. Great French examples are O Tire Bouchon in Chartres and Les Minimes in Semur en Auxois.

Pack light, remember to pack charger, adaptor and long lead in case no socket close to bed, get a bank card with no fees (eg Chase), to get best rates for purchases and ATMs, always paying in the local currency rather than sterling, and use your Smarty free roaming to research things to do, places to eat, to use Google maps etc.  Try not to cram too much into a day and find a locals bar - better atmosphere, cheaper prices and a lot more fun than a bar aimed at tourists.

For my hack is planning places to get something to drink and eat , followed by finding out about interesting things to visit and see.  Final one is if they speak a different language learn at least the basics like hello, good day, good evening and goodbye (plus where is the nearest bathroom).

Plan a "staycation" by exploring local attractions and booking a nearby accommodation to create a vacation-like experience without traveling far. Theme your days with different activities, such as visiting parks, dining at new restaurants, and engaging in outdoor adventures. This approach allows you to enjoy a refreshing break while saving time and money.

Go via the tunnel. Up to 9 passengers per car included in the price. No airport restrictions or hassle, no packing worries - take as much as you like.
And France is a great place to visit.

My hack is to roll-up your clothes, especially those that are prone to creasing, as it helps to keep them crease-free and weirdly enough saves space, so you can pack more in your luggage.

Hey there,

My holiday hack is to roll-up your clothing, especially those that are prone to creasing, rather than folding them as it helps to keep them clear of creases but also means to can save space and pack more items.
