PAYG Sim activation question

Hi, I am new to pay as you go. I currently have a contract with O2, I am the main account and also have both my daughters contracts connected which I pay, I receive one bill.

I have received my payg sim today but don't want to activate it yet as I am worried about what it means for my daughters at O2. I want to create a group to request payg sim cards for them but think I need to activate my new sim first?

I am not sure if I am making sense. I have a message to say as soon as I activate my sim I will effectively have left O2 the next day.

Can I choose a different transfer date before activating my sim?

Thanks for your help.

Did you give SMARTY your O2 PAC at the point-of-purchase, @JoMoran_2508019?

To change or cancel your switch, you'll need to talk to the SMARTY advisors using the SMARTY web chat service.
They work 7-days a week, 8am - 8pm.

@JoMoran_2508019  Just to follow up on what @Chalkychap  has said, activating a Smarty sim will not automatically cut off your O2 account UNLESS you have given Smarty a PAC code received from O2.

There is nothing to stop you activating a sim for you and then also sims for your daughters (they will need separate email addresses). These can then be incorporated into a Group and paid for from the same source if you wish.

At some later point, each of the sim holders can request a PAC from O2 and port their number onto the active sim they have.

If you have ordered PAC codes from O2 but not yet used them, they will automatically expire after 30 days in any case.

Additionally, it seems to me that people have less problems if they activate a sim first (and hence receive a random mobile number ) and then apply to port their old number across once the new sim is activated and clearly working. True, it may mean that you pay for the old contract at the same time as having started the Smarty plan, but it should be possible to minimise this to a few days at most.
