Can anyone shed any light I got  a motorhome wifi 5g system fitted in my motorhome which came with a smarty sim as standard I went away for a few days and used it with my fire stick it had 4 bars of signal but it would stop every few minutes with the dreaded rotating ring I then swapped the sim for my Vodafone one from my phone also with 4 bars of signal and it didnโ€™t once in 3.5hrs have a rotating ring any ideas

@DavidSh_2055242 I suspect that you were in an area that had a good Vodafone signal, but the smarty signal was not as stable.

Using mobile internet inside a metal box structure will often not yield the best service (as has been discussed here a number of times) due to the Faraday effect - the box shields against electromagnetic signals. Generally better if you have an antenna, but you still need a good signal locally.

Thanks for your reply I had an outdoor fitted with this system for that very reason but Iโ€™m wondering why that Both sims showed the same stable amount of signal but the smarty one was not any good is this a common issue

@DavidSh_2055242 Hard to say exactly what the problem is. Have you tried the device outside the motorhome to see if it's the same?

The system has an arial fitted on the roof

SMART/THREE/iD Mobile have poor 4G data. There are five of us here with SMARTY and there have been several places where we all have had full 4G signal but no working data.

So even if I have 4 bars of signal and 4G I still have useless Data I was in Somerset and Dorset and Cumbria all  places I had the same issue and nothing wrong with the wifi system as each occasion I swapped into my phone sim

If, as I suspect, those are rural areas that you visited in Cumbria, Dorset and Somerset, then @WelshPaul is spot on, Three and itโ€™s MVNOโ€™s in Smarty and ID Mobile have poor data connectivity in rural areaโ€™s.

I understand the rural bit but what Iโ€™m not understanding is why both sims on my phone and on my wifi system show 4 bars of signal and 4G but the Vodafone sim outperforms the Smarty one considerably thatโ€™s what I canโ€™t get my head around ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

@DavidSh_2055242 ...at the risk of stating the obvious, can I assume you checked that you had not run out of data?

No unlimited
