Sim in/ out

Can you explain why I get a message telling me if I want to keep my telephone number I must take out my sim and then re install ? Thank you

    Is your SMARTY SIM card in an iPhone, or an Android handset Jane16?

      I phone, the message comes up in settings, never seen before changing to Smarty!

    Jane16  Can't explain that offhand. Have you purchased a Smarty plan within the last 6 months? If not, they expire after 180days of inactivity and you usually receive an email warning in good time.

    Really not sure why you would need to remove the sim. Who sent the message?
