Apps won't work on Smarty phone

Hello, hope someone can help.

Since this morning, I’ve not been able to access most of the apps on my Smarty phone.

Tried the usual (switching phone on and off, removing and replacing the SIM card) but that hasn’t worked.

I had a similar issue in October last year and my husband managed to get my phone working - there is an app called Quickstep which seems to have caused the problem.

However, this time I haven't been given the option as to whether to use Quickstep (last time I selected 'No - Deny' and it resolved the issue).

I can receive texts and emails on Gmail, it's apps that seem to be the problem.

If anyone has any ideas as to what to try, then please let me know.

Many thanks

Lesley

LesleyC_1962  If calls, texts and general data work (you can view websites), then it sounds like a phone problem IMHO. If you get emails on Gmail, that is also an app, so this sounds strange.

A quick Google search indicates that it is an app launcher for Android.

As a dedicated iPhone user, I have not come across this before. Maybe someone else will jump in.

In the meantime, have you made sure that the phone has all necessary updates installed?

LesleyC_1962  Eee bah gum!! In't it grand when a plan comes together?

As an officially old person, it still surprises me that so much electronic stuff will actually work without glitches for most of the time! I can see that the odd bit of info can easily end up being wrong and corrupting the whole system (app in this case maybe).

Very glad that you have sorted it and that all is well in the land of telecommunicationicus mobilis.

    Here's to reduced stress levels !!! 🤗

      Hello again MSF

Just to say that I managed to run updates on my apps and it seems to have worked (one app didn't, so uninstalled / reinstalled, now works).

Many thanks again for your help (still not heard from Smarty Support).

Best wishes for a good weekend

      Lesley

Hello MSF, many thanks for your message.

I haven't checked for any app updates (but haven't had any prompts either), just wondering where to do this - maybe via Settings?

Haven't come across 'app launcher for Android' before so will try Google to see if it offers any clues.

Many thanks for getting in touch
