My best hack is to travel light: really think about how much stuff you will actually use and don’t make your journey uncomfortable by taking more than you need! 😎

I like to get cheap last minute holiday cancellations. Using websites like cheekytrip.com and moneysavingexpert.com give me great tips and offers for last minute deals. As long as you're ready with your travel documents, luggage, etc and able to leave midweek for example then there are some great last minute deals out there.

Pack your clothes in a vacuum pack bag before packing into a cabin bagand suck out all the air. Saves using a hold suitcase and paying for it. On the return use the other end of the hotel hair dryer to suck out the air for the return journey.

Not sure whether my entry has already been posted but I will repeat:

As soon as holiday booked, book pets into boarding, make sure travel insurance in place, book any transport to airport/seaport.  Check for documentation required, passport, visa, driving license or other travel document, vaccination requirements and work out timetable for anything required.  Have you got a good credit/debit card.  Check hotel, where is it situated, what facilities has it got, what places do you want to visit, how close is to anywhere you want to visit, how will you travel, what is the weather going to be like.  What luggage can you take, can you travel with a carry on if need be, can you vacuum pack everything.  Get any foreign currency that you need if you need it before you get there.  Get all documentation together in one place and have copies of everything especially passport and security details for cards in a completely separate secure place.

It is all about the preparation:-

Book your pets into boarding well in advance and make sure you have got your travel insurance in place.  Book any transport or car parking for airport.  Do your research before you go.  Do you need visas, vaccinations, other travel documents, driving license, what is the weather is going to be like, what faciities does the hotel have and where is it situated, what places do you want to visit and how close is the hotel to these places, what transport will you be able to use, do you need car hire.   Remembering weight limits and suitcase sizes and using vacuum packs, can you manage with a carry on if a suitcase is not included in flight cost.  When travelling have all documentation in one secure place but carry a separate copy of everything including passport, visas, driving license, insurance and contact details.

I am ready to go, everything in place!!

My tip: go camping in the UK. Its the cheapest option, and going abroad in the summer risks missing the UK's 1 day of summer.

Not a hack as such but getting a GHIC, some decent travel insurance and packing some basic medicines such as paracetamol, antiseptic cream, plasters etc is essential in my view, these things are not always readily available in other countries. Prepare for the worst so you can enjoy the moment!
