I have bought an unlocked EE 4g router from Amazon, and was hoping to use a Smarty unlimited data only sim with it. I have activated the sim,and put it in the router, but I’m not getting a connection-(flashing white/ aqua light on the router).
Please can you tell me if there something I need to do to get the set up to work?

I'm having the same issue, except it worked fine when I first installed it (solid aqua light). Did you resolve this?

@FergusD_3510522 Perhaps worth noting that the original poster has not been seen on this forum since 25/02/2025, so you may not get a reply.
Again, have you tested the sim in a phone to see if it gets data there?

Thanks for your reply:- Yes, it was working fine with a solid light for a couple of weeks and it seems to still be working to a degree now, because I was able to watch a youtube video with the aqua/white lights flashing on and off, so I don't understand the significance of the lights.

@FergusD_3510522 Have you checked through this support document?: https://ee.co.uk/content/dam/help/user-guides/ee-4g-wifi-user-guide.pdf

Ah! So it appears that alternately flashing white and aqua lights may indicate an incoming message, when I had understood it to mean starting up sequence. I'll try logging into the router when I'm there next and see if that's the case. Many thanks.

@PaulRog_3204108 If the sim works in a phone, as suggested by @Rebekah_150 , then you need to check the router settings, using the manual or online instructions. APN needs to be asm.mob.net

HI PaulRog_3204108 ,
My recommendation is to try your SMARTY SIM in a handset, this way you can check that this SIM is active and connecting to the network.
