Dongle newbie
Hi
I have a cheap chinese dongle from Amazon and a smarty data only sim.
Im trying to make it work but Im not exactly in my youth and I really dont know what Im doing.
Have logged onto the manufacturers site 192.168.100.1 selct english and password is admin. It says to input the APN information (I see is mob.asm.net), click modify. I cant get it to let me change anything at all.
Any clues as to what else I could do, or maybe Im doing something wrong?
Please dont tell me to buy a new one, this is supposed to be a back up for my mother who lives out in the sticks in case the wifi goes, Again!

A few points :
”cheap Chinese dongle” doesn’t fill me with confidence.
Are you certain the dongle isn’t network locked to a certain network other than Three ? (Three is the parent company of Smarty)It may not be, as the APN of “mob.asm.net” is the APN for Smarty.
Are you sure that Three / Smarty offer coverage “out in the sticks” where you need to use it ? In my experience, Three / Smarty coverage can be patchy at best in rural area’s.
You may be better off returning the device to Amazon and getting another dongle more suited for your needs, as much as you may not want to do so.
