I see the iPhone Air that is rumoured for his year is said to not have a SIM card slot in ANY market, I also see that 1P Mobile are going got launch eSIM in the next few months, so it would be really nice if Smarty finally supported eSIM, but I don’t think their is much chance of that?

MarkyR74 Given the time it took to get short code texts, I think that you may be waiting some time for sims.
I've had a quick search and couldn't see the bit about Esim only - could that be referring to the USA market?
Anyway, what with TTT (Trump Tariff Tax), that phone will probably cost about £20,000 so no need to get concerned 🤣

Sorry guys, I am an idiot , my eyesight isnt brilliant and I couldnt see the notch in the sim tray , after looking again under a strong light I finally fitted it, sorry for wasting everyones time!

Smarty lady on chat said to order new sim (im not sure if the new one will fit , a new nano should be the same as an old nano surely?) they also said for safety the old sim would be deactivated….so I would be unable to make calls for up to 2 days, which is ridiculous!

gez Both the 8 and the 16e take a nano SIM, and there is no SIM smaller than that, so I can't see how the SIM from the 8 wouldn't fit in the 16e.
Smarty support are right in that issuing you a new SIM would block the old one, but you are right that a new nano SIM would be the same size as the old one, so there's no point ordering a new one.

I have just received iphon 16e , tried to put in sim (nano) from old iphone 8, it doesnt fit, the 16e sim tray doesnt have the notch and the old sim is maybe only a mm too big. Not sure what to do…

AndrewP_1422753 You need to check the uk website tech specs. It will support nano and esim

If you look on the Apple UK website at the technical specification for the iphone 16e, it says it does still support nano sim as well as esim.

Trunks I think it was when the iPhone 15 came out I saw someone post on here saying they were leaving Smarty as they were going to buy the iPhone 15 which would almost certainly be eSIM only.. and here we are on the 16 models and we've still got the physical SIM slot in the UK.

Let us hope so. Makes sense and saves the plant from more plastic.
